By: Delmarva Media Group, which publishes The Daily Times in Salisbury, will lay off 14 people from its Maryland, Delaware and Virginia offices as part of a workforce reduction by its parent company.
McLean, Va.-based Gannett Co. is implementing a 10 percent cut in response to declining revenue.
Delmarva Media Group says nine vacant positions were eliminated, two workers agreed to leave and 14 were laid off. The cuts affect the sales, news editing, production and circulation areas of the Times and its affiliated publications.
President and Publisher Rick Jensen says the company is losing "very good employees" who have contributed to Delmarva Media Group's growth and success. But, Jensen says, the company will "continue to offer platforms that connect our advertisers with their customers."
