Denver Newspaper Agency Names New CEO

By: Gerald Grilly, a former publisher of The Denver Post, has been named president and CEO of the Denver Newspaper Agency, which was formed to handle the business operations of the Post and the now-closed Rocky Mountain News.

Grilly, 61, will report to William Dean Singleton, chairman and publisher of The Post and CEO of MediaNews Group Inc.

Harry Whipple, who is being replaced by Grilly, will join the executive committee of MediaNews Group.

Grilly was the Post?s publisher from 1998 until the DNA was formed in 2001. After that, he served as MediaNews Group?s chief operating officer until his retirement in September 2006.

Grilly and his wife, Bonnie, will relocate from Los Angeles to Denver.

The News published its final edition Friday after owner E.W. Scripps Co. announced a day earlier it would shutter the paper because of mounting losses.
