Derek Osenenko Named Editor of Gannett News Service

By: E&P Staff Gannett Co., Inc, based in McLean, Va., has named Derek Osenenko editor of the Gannett News Service. Osenenko was previously the executive editor of the Courier-Post in Cherry Hill, N.J.

Osenenko will replace Mark Silverman, now the editor and vice president/Content and Audience Development of The Tennessean in Nashville, Tenn. Everett J. Mitchell, previously vice president/News and editor at The Tennessean will replace Osenenko in Cherry Hill.

"Derek brings us great knowledge of various-sized Gannett operations and the convergence skills needed to operate in today?s media world," Phil Currie, senior vice president/News at Gannett Co., Inc. said in a statement.

Osenenko was editor of the Gannett-run Poughkeepsie (NY) Journal from 1989 until 1994 when he was named the executive editor. He then moved to Florida Today in Melbourne, Fl. before becoming executive editor in Cherry Hill in 2003.
