By: E & P Staff Associated Press President and CEO Tom Curley will deliver the keynote speech at the fifth annual Online News Association Conference and Awards Banquet on Nov. 12-13 in Hollywood, Calif.
Other highlights of the ONA onference (http://www.journalists.org/conference) will include a debate over the Net's role in this year's election and a competition among attendees to determine who is the "Master of the Web Universe." For that contest, attendees will form teams that will compete against each other to create the best solutions to real-world scenarios. A panel of celebrity judges, including Larry Kramer, Rob Curley and Elaine Zinngrabe, will help decide who is crowned Master of the Web Universe.
"Since we're a gathering of online journalists, we wanted to make this a truly interactive conference," said Conference Chair Jonathan Dube in a statement.
"We'll have a fantastic lineup of speakers, but we also wanted to tap our talented attendees, who are some of the sharpest minds in the business."
The ONA and the Society for News Design will also offering an optional full-day workshop on Thursday, Nov. 11, taught by journalists, for journalists.
On the evening of Nov. 13 the Online Journalism Awards will be announced at the annual banquet, this year catered by Wolfgang Puck.
