Posted
By: E&P Staff The Associated Press Tuesday unveiled new details of its expanded Olympics coverage, announcing that five former U.S. Olympians would provide on-camera analysis at this summer's Beijing Games.

The five former Olympians are sprinter Gail Devers, gymnast Bart Connor, and swimmers Mel Stewart, Jenny Thompson, and Gary Hall. They will be part of a comprehensive coverage plan from AP that includes video diaries from USA Basketball starts Dwyane Wade and Lisa Leslie, and is designed to showcase AP's expanded international sports coverage.

"Not only will our team of 300 staffers be covering the Games from every angle and in every format, but partnerships with NBC to provide video links within AP text stories and Stats, LLC., to provide in-depth statistics will really enhance our coverage," said Global Director of AP Sports Products Jim Kathman in a statement.

AP's coverage will be anchored by its premium package, Summer Games Plus, which features video, audio, photos and interactive graphics. Sumer Games Plus will also embed video links in AP Olympic stories soon after the events take place, as part of a distribution deal with NBC.
