By: E&P Staff Gannett announced this afternoon that Susie Ellwood has been appointed CEO of the Detroit Media Partnership. She succeeds David Hunke, who was named president and publisher of USA Today earlier this week. Ellwood was the executive vice president and general manager of the partnership. Joyce Jenereaux replaces Ellwood as executive vice president of the partnership.

In addition Paul Anger has been named editor and publisher of the Detroit Free Press. He was most recently the vice president of news and editor of the Free Press. Anger led the Free Press team that won the Pulitzer Prize for local reporting this year.

"The depth and range of talent at the Detroit operation makes this transition all the easier," Hunke said in a statement. "Susie truly know Detroit, as well as how to run DMP. Paul is a top notch editor and newsroom leader, who also understands the business of journalism. And Joyce has been a mainstay on the financial side of the Detroit operations for nearly 20 years."

Hunke will continue to supervise the Detroit operation.

The Detroit Media Partnership is a joint venture between Gannett's Free Press and MediaNews Group's Detroit News.
