Henry S. Ford was named vice president of market development for Detroit Newspapers, the joint operating agency that handles business and production operations for The Detroit News, a Gannett Co. newspaper, and the Detroit Free Press, a Knight Ridder newspaper.
Ford, most recently president of the San Jose, Calif.-based The Ford Group, has been director of national/retail advertising for Newsday of Melville, N.Y., and general advertising director for the San Jose (Calif.) Mercury News. He also has advertising agency experience, said Frank Vega, president and CEO of Detroit Newspapers.
In his new position, Ford will lead marketing efforts for both papers, and oversee a department responsible for market research, event planning and promotions.
