Digital Books and Games for the 'Garfield' Property

By: E&P Staff Paws Inc. and the kidthing company have entered into an agreement for six "Garfield" digital learning games and books.

The products include a "Garfield Scared Silly" comic strip book, "Garfield and Food Pick 'n' Paint" coloring pages, a "Garfield and the Tiger" narrated book (available in English and Spanish), a "What's Garfield Hiding?" interactive game, a "Garfield Jokes & Riddles" interactive activity book, and "Garfield Clicker Stickers."

Users of kidthing products go to the company's Web site and download a free kidthing player. They can then browse, preview, and purchase digital content at the kidthing store. The content automatically downloads and then can be played without being connected to the Internet.

"Garfield" comic runs in about 2,500 newspapers via Universal Press Syndicate. Jim Davis started the comic in 1978, and founded Paws Inc. -- which handles things like licensing -- three years later.
