By: Phillip Dixon was recently named chairman of the journalism department in the School of Communications at Howard University in Washington, D.C. Dixon, 50, is the former managing editor of
The Philadelphia Inquirer and a former city editor at
The Washington Post.
Dixon's career began at the
Inquirer in 1979, where he was part of the Pulitzer Prize-winning team that covered the Three Mile Island accident. He served as an editor at the
Los Angeles Times before joining the
Post in 1989 and returning to the
Inquirer in 1995. He resigned as managing editor in January.
