Tribune Interactive Goes Fishing for Multimedia

Tribune Interactive has licensed the GoFish Web Service for use on its Metromix.com sites. GoFish is a San Francisco-based provider of multimedia search technologies.

Tribune Interactive's Metromix.com provides dining and nightlife coverage as well as movies, music, museum, and theater content. GoFish's Web Service boasts a continuously updated searchable index of more than 100 million multimedia files, which includes downloadable music, videos, ringtones, audiobooks, movies, and other multimedia content.

Denver Papers Go Shopping

The Denver Newspaper Agency has selected Travidia to power its new online shopping channel.

The site (shopping.postnewsmarketplace.com), is scheduled to launch by the end of the year and will feature print display advertisements, special sections, classifieds, and Travidia's Syndicated Marketplace program featuring insert and inventory feed content from retailers.

"A more robust local online marketplace for Denver area residents is what we need to be more competitive with online pure plays," Fran Wills, vice president interactive with the Denver Newspaper Agency, said in a statement.

The Denver Newspaper Agency publishes The Denver Post and Rocky Mountain News under a joint operating agreement. Combined business operations are managed by The Agency, which is equally owned by MediaNews and The E. W. Scripps Co.

Oodles of Boodle

The Monitor in McAllen, Texas and the San Diego Union Tribune have recently launched the new boodleIZER online coupon organizer tool from Consumer Networks.

One of the features allows users to sign up for advanced e-mail notification of upcoming coupons.
