By: E&P Staff E.W. Scripps Company announced Wednesday the launching of RedBlueAmerica.com -- an interactive forum for political and cultural ideas and opinion.

The site will include blogs, personal profiles, videos, and more.

RedBlueAmerica.com will initially focus on the 2008 election campaigns, but the plan is to continue the site beyond this year.

The "about us" part of the site notes: "America is a divided nation. Red or blue. Republican or Democrat. Liberal or conservative. Is there any media platform where the two sides come together? Is there any common ground? Fox or CNN? Wall Street Journal or New York Times? Free Republic or DailyKos? Sadly, the answer appears to be, 'No.'

"If there were, would people from both sides flock to it? We believe the answer is yes. We believe that a significant percentage of American adults -- people who vote regularly, people who care about news, people involved in their community -- would go to a Web site where they could read the best thinking from both sides of issues they care about."
