Doctorates for Ex-Universal Columnists Gonzales and Rodriguez

By: E&P Staff Roberto Rodriguez and Patrisia Gonzales, the "Column of the Americas" writers formerly syndicated by Universal Press Syndicate, recently earned doctoral degrees.

After many years in journalism, the couple went back to school in 2003 at the University of Wisconsin in Madison to get master's and doctoral degrees.

Gonzales has been hired as an assistant professor at the Mexican American Studies & Research Center at the University of Arizona, and Rodriguez is now a research associate there.

Rodriguez told E&P that he and Gonzales, who were syndicated for more than a dozen years, will try to get syndicated once again. They are also planning a collection of columns and to turn their dissertations into books.
