By: Attorneys for a western Kansas newspaper reporter on Tuesday asked the Kansas Supreme Court to intervene before she is forced to testify at an inquisition.
Dodge City Globe reporter Claire O'Brien is scheduled to appear before an inquisition in Ford County on Wednesday. Prosecutors are trying to force her to reveal the name of a confidential source and information from her unpublished notes.
O'Brien interviewed a Dodge City man charged with second-degree murder and attempted murder for a pair of Labor Day shootings. Prosecutors issued a subpoena seeking information from O'Brien related to the shootings.
O'Brien's attorneys on Tuesday petitioned the high court for an emergency order staying enforcement of the subpoena.
