Does Journalist's Conflict of Interest Conflict with Assembly Interests?

Apparently, Dodgeville residents are cool with having a mayor who also happens to cover local news for the local newspaper.

But now the city’s journalist mayor is running for the state Assembly, where his judgment and ability to understand the meaning of “conflict of interest” would have a direct impact on 5.7 million Wisconsinites, not just the 4,700 of them who live in Dodgeville.
