Dominion Distribution Launches FlashEdition

Posted Thursday, May 8, 2008 12:00 am

By: E&P Staff Free publication distributor Dominion Distribution, Norfolk, Va., has developed FlashEdition, which converts print publications to electronic formats featuring multimedia components such as audio, video, and Web links.

The electronic version created by FlashEdition can be shared, bookmarked, and downloaded as a PDF. Readers can search through thumbnails, a table of contents and an advertiser directory to go directly to a desired page, and perform searches through a single publication or an entire archive, according to Dominion Distribution. Ads provide live links to advertisers, and ad clicks are tracked.

Publishers provide Dominion Distribution with an e-mail list that FlashEdition uses to automatically generate an e-mail alert when a new electronic publication becomes available. The application also provides publishers with an animated icon that users can click to view and search current and archived publications.

How Dublin Inquirer uses legal risk assessments to keep accountability journalism moving

When Dublin Inquirer publishes a sensitive accountability story, the challenge isn’t just reporting the facts. It’s deciding whether a small, seven-person newsroom can afford the legal risks that sometimes come with telling the public what it needs to know. For editor and co-founder Sam Tranum and deputy editor Lois Kapila, those decisions once came down to late-night conversations and educated guesswork. Today, the independent Dublin newsroom relies on Reporters Shield’s Legal Risk Assessment service to help identify potential legal vulnerabilities before publication—allowing journalists to move forward with greater confidence while keeping important stories alive.
