's 'Sandbox' Military Blog Inspires Book

By: E&P Staff A 288-page book titled "'s The Sandbox: Dispatches from Troops in Iraq and Afghanistan" will be released in August by Andrews McMeel Publishing.

"The Sandbox" military blog -- launched last October by "Doonesbury" cartoonist Garry Trudeau -- features stories soldiers send back to the U.S. They write about close calls with explosive devices, building a school that gets burned by the Taliban the following week, a dog "adopting" a military unit in Baghdad, and many other topics.

"Doonesbury" appears in about 1,400 newspapers via Universal Press Syndicate.
