'Drunken Lemurs' Reference Recalls Real-Life 'Dilbert' Firing

Posted
By: E&P Staff Today's "Dilbert" strip indirectly refers to the real-life story of an Iowa man fired last year for posting a "Dilbert" strip at the office implying his bosses were "drunken lemurs."

In the Wednesday strip, the pointy-haired boss tells Wally: "Our surveillance cameras caught you posting this anti-management comic on the wall." The boss goes on to say: "This comic compares managers to drunken lemurs. Do you think drunken lemurs are like managers?"

Wally replies: "No. Some lemurs can hold their liquor."

In the 2007 comic that got the Iowa guy fired, Dilbert asked his garbage collector: "Why does it seem as if most of the decisions in my workplace are made by drunken lemurs?"

Scott Adams' "Dilbert" strip runs in more than 2,000 newspapers via United Media.
