DTI Web Order Entry in Ireland

By: E&P Staff Digital Technology International's U.K. offices in Brentwood sold Independent Newspapers Ireland the ClassSpeed Web order-entry system, which enables consumers to design, preview and purchase classified ads online at any time. Implementation, which included an extensive redesign of DTI's Web order-entry standard templates, was completed in 12 weeks.

Independent Newspapers, publisher of five national and 11 regional newspapers, as well as directories, online news portal operator, commercial printer, and newspaper and magazine distributor, initiated two firsts for DTI: it implemented Web order entry 6.0 on the Cach? multidimensional database with advanced Internet capabilities, and it is the first DTI ad system installation that has led with Web-enabled tools.

Irish Independent IT Director Gerry Wilde, said that "with the roll out of broadband in this country, it will give us the edge to promote our publications via the Web for both private and business customers."

Redesign of standard DTI templates completely changed the look of the pages. Features include the integration of live online credit transactions. Also, images are collected, checked, converted in the templates and loaded directly to the database, with multiple formats displayed instantly in the browser.

Internet Ireland Managing Director Mark Lawlor said "the PlaceMyAd.ie service is in an easy-to-use component of a much larger and more powerful digital suite of services that we will be offering our customers over the next 18 months."
