Duke's Up: More Newspapers Ads Hailing Lacrosse Team Appear Sunday

Posted
By: More newspaper ads praising the Duke lacrosse team.

Tomorrow's full-page ad is to appear in the New York Times, Washington Post, The Raleigh News And Observer, and Durham Herald-Sun. It's also planned for Monday's Wall Street Journal and a pair of lacrosse magazines.

The $400,000 ad is being paid for by an anonymous Oklahoma oil businessman who graduated from Duke.

The ads, like a similar ad in USA Today on Wednesday, praise the Duke lacrosse players and their families for "standing tall during extraordinarily difficult circumstances over the past 15 months."

The USA Today ad cost $106,400 and was also paid for by a Duke grad.

Duke played just eight lacrosse games last year before the university canceled the season as police investigated allegations a woman was raped at a March 2006 team party. Three players were later indicted, but the accusations were eventually debunked.
