(Mediaweek) New York-based ePod Corp., an e-commerce company, yesterday announced that it has signed
an agreement allowing DoubleClick to offer ePod technology across its network of more than 4,700
advertisers serving 1.5 million ads daily.
The ePod showcase, a transactional advertising unit, contains an advertiser's branded message and
targeted products. Likened to a mini-store or a commerce site within a content site, an ePod seeks to
peak Web surfers' curiosity in a product and then lets them shop, sign up for newsletters, and view
rich media without 'hijacking' them away from the publisher's page.
The pact calls for DoubleClick to promote ePod products on its sites and resell ePod products to its
sponsors, while paying fees for items sold.
'The ePod showcase has the ability to bundle interactive content and commerce into a single package,
which adds a valuable sponsorship tool to DoubleClick's market-defining set of online advertising
solutions,' said Beth-Ann Eason, vice president, DoubleClick.
Last week, ePod signed a deal with Fort Washington, Pa.-based CDnow to give the music e-tailers'
affiliates the option to carry transactional ad units. Other ePod clients include teen site bolt.com,
video retailer bigstar.com and newly acquired Hollywood gossip page showbizscoop.com.
