The Netherlands-based e-reader maker iRex Technologies has filed for bankruptcy owing to poor sales, according to Amsterdam's De Telegraaf and Publishers Weekly in the U.S.
An early developer of devices using E Ink display technology (see July E&P), the Philips Electronics spin-off recently introduced in this country its $399 wireless touchscreen DR800SG, available online through Best Buy.
CEO Hans Brons attributed the late market entry to delays in FCC approvals. He also told Amsterdam's Het Financieele Dagblad earlier this week that iRex expected to deplete its working capital.
