(Mediaweek Online) Online auction site eBay is pulling the plug on its monthly magazine. The Associated Press reports that the San Jose-based company will stop publishing the15-month-old magazine after the December issue.

EBay's contract with the magazine's publisher, Wisconsin-based Krause Publications, is expiring and the two sides have decided not to renew it by mutual agreement. EBay has forged so many partnerships to promote its Web site that the company probably decided that it no longer made financial sense to publish a magazine, opined analyst Safi Rashtchy of U.S. Bancorp Piper Jaffray.

EBay is currently negotiating to launch a TV show that will spotlight its rapidly growing auction site, which had 18.9 million registered users as of Sept. 30. Ebay magazine had a circulation of about 400,000 with an editorial focus on general Internet developments, collecting and eBay's Web site.
