Editor Brauchli to Staff: New Era at 'Wall Street Journal'

Posted
By: E&P Staff In a memo to staff posted on the Romenesko media news site, new Wall Street Journal editor Marcus Brauchli praises his predecessor, Paul Steiger, comments on the current state of affairs at the paper, and outlines his hopes and plans for the future.

Brauchli, who was named Steiger's successor last month, said that the paper faced constant change, but that it shouldn't be allowed to change the paper's essence.

"We must find ways to manage the inherent tension between a 24-hour-a-day news cycle and the steady focus needed to pursue the ambitious, sometimes monumentally complicated stories that make the Journal what it is. We must never curtail that ambition," he wrote.
