Editorial Cartoonists Nominate New Officers

By: Dave Astor The Association of American Editorial Cartoonists (AAEC), at its convention here, nominated new officers Saturday to serve with incoming president Rob Rogers.

Rogers, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and United Media, is currently president-elect of the AAEC. He'll succeed Clay Bennett, of The Christian Science Monitor and Christian Science Monitor News Service, at the AAEC helm this September.

Nominated as president-elect was current AAEC vice president Nick Anderson of the Houston Chronicle and Washington Post Writers Group. Nominated as 2006-7 vice president was Ted Rall of Universal Press Syndicate. And nominated for another term as secretary-treasurer was V. Cullum Rogers of The Independent Weekly in Durham, N.C.

If elected, the new officers will serve a one-year term starting this September.

The AAEC turns 50 next year. Its anniversary convention is scheduled for July 2007 in Washington, D.C., where the organization first met in 1957.
