Edwards Affair Brings Two Major Dailies Together in One Rob Tornoe Cartoon

Posted
By: E&P Staff It isn't often that The New York Times and The Washington Post are mentioned in the same editorial cartoon -- as Politicker.com's Ron Tornoe did today. The catalyst was the John Edwards affair.

Tornoe showed Edwards and Rielle Hunter arm-in-arm on a park bench as the Times, Post, and CNN were depicted as blind men not seeing the couple.

The cartoonist commented on his blog: "John Edwards' admission that he lied and dismissed reports of an affair with Rielle Hunter, a filmmaker hired to cover his presidential campaign, may have ended his public life, but did it also signify an end to the era in which the mainstream media controlled the agenda for national political journalism?"

Driving much of the Edwards-Hunter coverage, of course, was The National Enquirer as well as other outlets outside "the mainstream media."

Tornoe's cartoon can be seen here.
