Announcement from Editorial Page Editor Fred Hiatt and Manager of Editorial Talent and Logistics Nana Efua Mumford:
We’re pleased to announce that Emefa Agawu, after a brief leave, has rejoined the Opinions section to undertake a one-year fellowship in explanatory opinion writing and editing.
Emefa first joined us in March 2020 for what was planned as a three-month editorial writing fellowship. We persuaded her to stay on, and she became the architect of the Reimagine Safety project that we published earlier this year.
Now Emefa will pioneer what we hope may become an annual fellowship to bring new talent to our section while imparting new skills to people who may have non-journalism backgrounds. Emefa will cycle between writing and producing deeply-reported pieces on important but neglected public-policy issues — and editing across our text, audio and visual platforms.
We’re delighted to have Emefa back.
