By: E&P Staff Enfocus Software of Gent, Belgium, is introducing Instant PDF 3.0, an implementation of its "Queue" technology that enables transparent creation and delivery of preflighted PDFs by including tools for downstream definition of creation and process parameters.
With no extra steps, creators can produce PDF documents matching printers' preferred PDF specifications via the new PDF Queue. Another new feature is menu-level integration with multiple PDF creation tools, including Adobe InDesign CS, Adobe Acrobat, and QuarkXPress 6, and operating-system-level integration in Mac OS X.
According to Enfocus CEO David van Driessche, while Instant PDF's focus remains easy creation and delivery of error-free PDFs, the new version gives a receiver tools to define how a PDF should behave for a particular workflow.
In 3.0, Instant PDF automatically executes the PDF Queue on a PDF document. The queue contains all receiver-defined settings and standards, InDesign CS and XPress 6print settings, Acrobat Distiller Job Options, an Enfocus PDF Profile with comprehensive checks and fixes, Enfocus Action Lists for PitStop auto-correction, preferred file save, e-mail, and FTP locations.
Integration of PDF Queue with CertifiedPDF.net, Enfocus' online communications hub between PDF creators and receivers, facilitates consistent communication of receivers' quality specifications to creative partners and customers. Receivers can create or edit PDF Queues to accommodate changing workflows and different applications using a copy of Instant PDF 3.0, then post the up-to-date queues at CertifiedPDF.net. Changed queues are automatically distributed using a CertifiedPDF.net queue update that interacts transparently with Instant PDF 3.0.
