Reflecting the growing influence of social media, the content additions cover sources from around the globe, including Africa, Latin America, China and India, and core sectors such as financial services, information technology and insurance. Dow Jones Factiva gathers content from the most well-known Web sites, as well as corporate blogs, political blogs and blogs from media outlets and industry pundits.

"Our goal is to provide a comprehensive local and global view that addresses the content needs of our customer base and provides researchers and knowledge workers with the information they need to make informed business decisions," Dennis Cahill, chief product officer, Dow Jones Enterprise Media Group Chief Product Officer Dennis Cahill said in a statement.

Other enhancements focus on business needs, enhanced user experience and increased value for end users so that they can find, analyze and share the news and information most important to them. For example, Dow Jones Factiva Mobile is now compatible with the Apple iPhone, allowing users to receive news alerts, create personal pages and perform searches - all from their iPhone or BlackBerry device. Users can read articles published within the last 90 days from more than 7,000 news sources, and find the latest stock quotes and news for public companies.

Factiva Reader, which enables organizations to distribute copyrighted materials internally and externally using Factiva newsletters, can now externally distribute content using widgets, which users can post to portals, extranets or any other Web site, giving organizations the ability ensure that everyone is up-to-date on the latest news.

Company snapshots have been enhanced with Factiva Discovery Technologies, which combine advanced searching, text-mining and taxonomy technologies.

Additional features include multimedia content, performance and segmentation charts, and expanded interface languages, including Italian, Japanese, Chinese and Mandarin Chinese.
