E&P Highlights Newspaper Sites' Environmental Initiatives

Posted
By: North American newspapers are reducing their impact on the environment, often also improving working environments, operating efficiencies, and even earnings. Under way at papers of all sizes in all markets, efforts large and small help combat the image of an outdated industry that consumes oil and forests to put ink on paper.

In its December print issue, E&P highlights a half-dozen newspaper sites' environmental initiatives, ranging from green-building projects and extraordinary energy sources to a comprehensive recycling program and a very public self-assessment.

Profiled in Green Team 2007 are The Columbian, Vancouver, Wash.; The Chronicle-Telegram, Elyria, Ohio; Monterey County Weekly, Seaside, Calif.; Herald and News , Klamath Falls, Ore.; The Gazette, Montreal, Que.; and Sierra Nevada Media Group, Carson City, Nevada.

Each of the next three newsletters will contain condensed versions of two of the six stories we published this month. The full text can be seen here.
