The EPPY Awards, now in its 26th year, continue to set the gold standard for digital journalism by honoring outstanding achievements across more than 45 categories. Hosted by Editor & Publisher (E&P) Magazine, the EPPYs remain one of the most popular awards in the industry, attracting over 200 entrants this year. Open to a wide range of participants—from legacy newspapers and broadcasters to digital-first platforms and academic institutions—the awards celebrate innovation and excellence across the ever-evolving news publishing landscape.
“Inheriting this prestigious competition, now spanning nearly three decades, is a significant responsibility for us at Editor & Publisher,” said Mike Blinder, Publisher of Editor & Publisher Magazine. “We take the stewardship of the EPPYs very seriously and are deeply gratified each year by the incredible work submitted by news publishers from around the world.”
Blinder also shared that many of this year’s winners will be featured in the January 2025 issue of the magazine.
This year’s judging process was led by Christian Hendricks, President of the Local Media Consortium and Managing Partner of Extol Digital. A panel of more than 40 media professionals and academic experts evaluated entries across a diverse range of criteria, including design, ease of use, comprehensiveness, timeliness, interactivity, and the overall quality of journalism and reporting. The judging process also considered excellence in video production, graphics, data journalism, and podcasts, reflecting the evolving multimedia landscape of digital news.
"This year’s EPPY Awards showcased an extraordinary level of innovation, reporting excellence, and creative storytelling across all categories," stated Hendricks. "The impressive volume of entries, including an abundance of outstanding video and audio content, made the judging process both challenging and inspiring. It’s a testament to the incredible talent and dedication within the industry."
