By: E&P Staff American Business Media has announced the finalists for its annual Jesse H. Neal Journalism Awards, the top prizes in the business/trade press. Editor & Publisher was one of only nine magazines to earn two or more finalist slots.
E&P got the nod for Editorials and for News (its ongoing coverage of the press and the Iraq war). Its entry in the latter was drawn from both print and Web articles.
Three finalists in each category are selected by screeners and judges from among dozens of entries. Judges this year included top reporters or editors from The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Washington Post.
Over the past two years, E&P has won five Neal Awards. It won in the news category last year (also for Iraq coverage), and has won for editorials three of the past four years.
The awards luncheon for the 51st annual Neal competition will be held March 16 at The Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York.
Other finalists this year include The American Lawyer, Brandweek, Photo District News, PC World, Architectural Record, Medical Economics, Marketing y Medios, and Variety.
