By: E&P Staff Color control systems supplier Essex Products Group in Centerbrook, Conn., has hired John Horan, owner and President of The Printing Clinic Inc., to expand technical and client support capabilities for its new KeyColor color measurement product line.
Known as the "dot doctor," Horan will be responsible for establishing EPG's color management and process controls and training clients in color measurement technologies. He joins EPG as color consultant following the company's recent acquisition of GRIPdigital and its naming Greg Imhoff as color solutions director.
GRIPdigital products, including patent-pending color-measurement technology, have been folded into EPG's KeyColor product line of integrated color-control systems, which include ink desks, presetting software, page-addressing software, and software for closed-loop color control.
A GATF Solutions On Sight consultant, Horan cofounded the GATF SPC Users Group and leads educational seminars for companies and trade associations. He worked for Eastman Kodak and Kodak Polychrome Graphics for 28 years and earlier served the trade for 12 years in various roles, including cameraman, stripper, platemaker, pressman, foreman, litho supervisor, and plant manager.
