E&P's First 'Chat' This Morning: Send Questions Now

Posted Tuesday, March 7, 2006 12:00 am

By: E&P Staff Better late than never, E&P Online will hold its first "chat" Tuesday at 11 a.m. right in this space. It will feature E&P Editor (and "Pressing Issues" columnist) Greg Mitchell.

This is how it will work: Send your questions to the address below. Mitchell will answer as many as possible and start posting them at 11 a.m. today. At that point, he will also take "live" questions and follow-ups and post them as they come in.

So join the fray and/or fun, or at least read what others are wondering about.

Questions can cover current press issues, political coverage, what's happening at E&P, newspaper trends, or anything else. Sound off! In the subject line, please write something like "chat question."

Here's the e-mail address: gmitchell@editorandpublisher.com

Increasingly, many are turning to collaborative reporting models and syndicated newsroom partnerships designed to supplement local coverage while allowing already-stretched staffs to stay focused on their communities. How Dublin Inquirer uses legal risk assessments to keep accountability journalism moving

When Dublin Inquirer publishes a sensitive accountability story, the challenge isn’t just reporting the facts. It’s deciding whether a small, seven-person newsroom can afford the legal risks that sometimes come with telling the public what it needs to know. For editor and co-founder Sam Tranum and deputy editor Lois Kapila, those decisions once came down to late-night conversations and educated guesswork. Today, the independent Dublin newsroom relies on Reporters Shield’s Legal Risk Assessment service to help identify potential legal vulnerabilities before publication—allowing journalists to move forward with greater confidence while keeping important stories alive.
