By: Allan Wolper,
E&P's
Ethics Corner columnist, will collect not one but two awards this week, both given at ceremonies at the National Press Club in Washington. In addition to the previously announced 2002 Bart Richards Award for Media Criticism (to be handed out Thursday) Wolper on Wednesday will pick up a Paul Mongerson Prize for Investigative Reporting on News Coverage. Like the Richards award, it comes with a $1,000 check.
The Mongerson prize was established in 2001 by the Center for Media and Public Affairs in Washington. Wolper is being honored for a column on how the
Chicago Sun-Times handled crucial evidence in a legal case involving singer R. Kelly.
