By: The Times Publishing Co. Inc. of Erie, Pa., named James E. Dible CEO, president, and publisher. The company publishes the Erie Times-News and alternative weeklies in Cleveland and Louisville, Ky.

Dible, 60, has been vice president/general manager since 1996. He replaces Michael Mead, 65, who is retiring. Mead will continue to serve on the board of directors.

Dible is the first non-family member to be appointed CEO of the family-owned publisher. "My stewardship of this wonderful family-owned company will be made easier by the Mead family's commitment to the future of this company and this community," Dible said in a statement. "And having members of the next generation of Meads as part of the leadership and governance of our company is further evidence to me of our bright future."

Dible is credited with helping start CyberInk, the newspaper's Internet company, and its GoErie.com Web site in 1997.
