By: E&P Staff Andrew Sippel was appointed vice president of marketing and business development for The Wall Street Journal franchise, effective Feb. 25. He reports to Michael Rooney, chief revenue officer at Dow Jones.
In his new role, Sippel, 43, will support print and online ad sales, develop advertising programs, and create promotions.
Sippel was previously senior vice president of sports and product management at ESPN.
"His experience across multiple platforms brings knowledge and the ability to drive brand awareness, which will benefit the Journal franchise as a whole and help reach our long-term goals," Rooney said in a statement.
While at ESPN, Sippel lead the group responsible for marketing efforts at ESPN and ABC Sports. He served as senior vice president of sales and marketing for ESPN.com, ESPN The Magazine, and ESPN's emerging media and data services. He joined ESPN in 1997 as the magazine's first director of marketing.
