By: Eureka newspaper executive Dick Clasen has died after suffering a stroke. He was 65.
Clasen was co-owner, editor and publisher of The Eureka Herald and a former president of the Kansas Press Association.
The newspaper reported he died Sunday at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
He also was known for taking on the role of community spokesman. After Greenwood County Sheriff Matt Samuels was shot and killed in January 2005, Clasen served as a liaison between the family and the media.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday at the Eureka Junior/Senior High School.
Clasen is survived by his wife, Rachel, five children, 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
