By: E&P Staff Donnell Giles, the former vice president of circulation for the Times Leader of Wilkes-Barre, Pa., is leaving the paper, the Times Leader reported today. Giles will be replaced by Dick DeHaven, who was recently hired. Rich Connor, the new executive editor/publisher of the Times Leader, made the announcements.
DeHaven is the former circulation director of the Hazleton (Pa.) Standard-Speaker, and previously worked for Connor in 1981 as the Times Leader assistant circulation director. He also worked for then-publisher Dale Duncan in 1988 as the home delivery manager for the Times Leader. Other newspaper industry experiences include work at Shoreline Newspapers in Guildford, Conn.; the Fort Worth Star-Telegram; and the Pottstown (Pa.) Mercury.
Connor told the Times Leader that he expected the resignation of Giles and the hiring of DeHaven to be the last major management change to take place in the near future. The changes come a week after Connor replaced Matt Golas as executive editor.
