By: An ex-newspaper employee is going to prison for 16 months for threatening Riverside County District Attorney Rod Pacheco.
Chandler William Cardwell was upset with the district attorney's initiative to crack down on a Riverside gang. The 33-year-old Perris man's brother-in-law was a member of the gang.
Cardwell, who worked in the classified advertising department of The Press-Enterprise, placed an ad for a "Big Blowout, Going Out of Business" yard sale with proceeds to benefit the "Rod Pacheco memorial fund." It listed the district attorney's home address and phone number.
Cardwell pleaded guilty last month to making a criminal threat and he was sentenced Monday.
