Ex-newspaper Publisher Loses Appeal

WATERLOO REGION — The former publisher of the Elmira Independent newspaper has been forced to return to Canada and serve out the rest of his sentence after losing an appeal of his conviction for contempt of court.

Bob Verdun learned this week he must leave France and resume his house arrest at his home in Kitchener for another two months, with strict limitations on his movements, followed by 18 months of probation.
