By: Dave Astor Time magazine this week is launching a new political cartoon page -- "The Drawing Room," featuring original cartoons edited by Matthew Diffee.
The first page includes at least one artist -- Mike Twohy -- with a newspaper-syndication connection. While mostly known for his cartoons for The New Yorker and other magazines, Twohey also did the "That's Life" comic panel syndicated by the Washington Post Writers Group from 1999 to 2005.
A Time spokesperson could not immediately say whether current newspaper cartoonists might contribute to the page in the future.
In his "Letter to Readers," Time Managing Editor Richard Stengel noted that Diffee has done work for The New Yorker and other outlets. "He'll be curating and contributing to the page, tapping the minds and pens of the best cartoonists in America," Stengel added.
The cartoons will appear "regularly" in Time's print magazine and on Time.com.
