By: Baltimore Examiner President and Publisher Michael Phelps will take on the newly created role of Chief Executive Officer of the Baltimore-Washington Examiner Group, Clarity Media Group CEO Ryan McKibben announced Tuesday.
Phelps will also assume the role of president and publisher of the Washington Examiner, succeeding Herb Moloney, who has resigned. Phelps became president and publisher of the Baltimore newspaper in 2005 and directed its April 2006 launch.
Phelps, meanwhile, named Michael Beatty as publisher of the Baltimore Examiner. Beatty was most recently executive director of retail sales for The (Baltimore) Sun.
McKibben said the position of CEO of the Baltimore-Washington Examiner Group was created to develop "stronger synergies" between the two markets and greater value for advertisers.
