By: Dean Miller, a 14-year veteran at the Post Register, has been dismissed as the newspaper's executive editor.
Publisher Roger Plothow announced the decision this week, and the newspaper published a front-page story on the decision in Thursday's edition. Plothow cited a need to change the direction of the newspaper.
Features sections editor Rob Thornberry and Photo Editor Monte LaOrange have been appointed assistant managing editors and will share oversight of the newsroom. Plothow also says he will take a more active editing role.
Miller's career in Idaho journalism spans three decades. He was named city editor of the Post Register in 1995 and later promoted to executive editor.
Miller said the decision was a surprise. A highlight of his tenure was the newspaper's reporting on series on how local Boy Scout leaders failed to protect children from pedophiles.
