Family Media Buys 'Bay Press'

By: E&P Staff The Bay Press, a twice-weekly paid newspaper in Ocean Springs, Miss., has been sold to Family Media of Miami, Ohio. Cribb & Associates brokered the deal representing the seller. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

An investor group headed by Gary Michiels owned the Bay Press for four years. The group, which has experience operating radio stations, increased the paper's frequency to twice a week.

Family Media President Jerry Turner said in a statement, "This acquisition gives us an opportunity to expand in an area that we feel has a solid future."
