Family-owned Chain Bids on Closed 'Eagle-Times'

By: A Pennsylvania family-owned newspaper chain has made a bid for a New Hampshire newspaper that closed in July.

The Rutland Herald reports the Sample News Group of Huntington, Pa., submitted an offer that has the support of the court-appointment bankruptcy trustee for the Eagle-Times newspaper of Claremont, N.H.

A hearing on the proposed sale is scheduled Wednesday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Manchester.

Court documents say former owner and publisher Harvey Hill of Charlestown would be out more than $4 million, and that Hill has agreed to waive that claim.
