Few Sink Their 'Salt Lake Tribune' Subs

By: Mark Fitzgerald While The Salt Lake Tribune continued to run each day last week one or two letters to the editor from readers who were canceling their subscriptions because William Dean Singleton's MediaNews Group Inc. has taken management control from the McCarthey family, an executive of the newspaper's business agency said the cancellations were not significantly large.

"Frankly, it's proprietary information that we're not releasing," said Fred Tamby, vice president and general manager of the Newspaper Agency Corp., which runs business operations for the Tribune and The Deseret News. "We have a campaign to bring them back, one by one."
