Recognized for his contributions to online newspaper publishing, Howard
I. Finberg, vice president of Central Newspapers' CNI Ventures, has
been named this year's New Media Pioneer by the Newspaper Association
of America's New Media Federation.

Finberg received the award today during a luncheon at Connections, the
NAA's electronic media conference, in San Francisco.

'Howard Finberg truly embodies the spirit of the New Media Pioneer
Award,' noted John E. Kimball, NAA senior vice president and chief
marketing officer. 'In forging new paths in electronic media for CNI,
he has also given unselfishly to the industry so that others find ways
down those paths as well.'

Finberg manages Central newspapers' investment activities in the
Internet and technology sectors. He also serves as CNI's director of
technology and information strategies, providing solutions and guidance
for the company's print and electronic businesses. Finberg is a
founding member and a former president of the New Media Federation.
