First Edition of 'SouthtownStar' Launched Sunday

By: E&P Staff More than 70,000 copies of the SouthtownStar were distributed on Sunday -- the first print and online editions from the Sun-Times Media Group.

The SouthtownStar is the result of the merger of the Daily Southtown and Star Newspapers.

"We think our readers and advertisers will be pleased with the new products and their breadth," Murdoch Davis, president of Midwest Suburban Publishing, a division of the Sun-Times News Group, said in a statement.

The SouthtownStar, its Web site, and Neighborhoodstar.com serve 75 ZIP codes.

Mike Waters and Frank Shuftan are co-editors and publishers. Waters was editor and publisher of the Daily Southtown and Shuftan was editor and publisher of Star Newspapers.
