When it first launched 15 months ago, First Look Media’s Press Freedom Litigation Fund seemed partial to supporting high-profile, politically charged legal fights.

After a lull, the fund announced grants this week for the Sacramento News & Review and Mother Jones, two news organizations caught up in more conventional First Amendment cases.
