By: E&P Staff The former Senior Vice President of Circulation at the Denver Newspaper Agency Judd Alvord is starting a new marketing services company for the newspaper industry. MG2 Direct will operate out of Denver and Philadelphia. Database technology company Marketing G2 will support MG2 Direct.
"We're aware of the challenges that subscription-based companies have reaching their target markets, especially newspapers," Alvord said in a statement. "Combing our expertise with the solid data-driven solutions from Marketing G2 and Yellow Hat Marketing means that companies only need to go one place for all the marketing support they need, from people who intimately know the newspaper business."
Stewart Place, who was most recently with Yellow Hat Marketing, joined MG2 Direct. For more than a decade he worked with database-driven strategic marketing for major newspapers and cable operators.
Patrick Glennon, founder and managing partner of Marketing G2, the sister company to MG2 Direct, is also with the new venture. He has worked for the subscriber sales and retention for the Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News.
Jim Saylor, also formerly with Yellow Hat Marketing, is part of MG2 Direct. He held senior management positions with publishing and cable TV companies.
